Dabei entscheidet der Anwender, ob ein Verfahren fest dem Artikel oder erst im Auftrag zugeordnet wird, ob ein Serienteil den notwendigen Arbeitsplan hinterlegt hat oder das Verfahren den Arbeitsplan erst beim Auftrag zuordnet. Dabei kann durch die Möglichkeit der Materialzuordnung bei den Arbeitsgängen auch direkt der Verbrauch des zugeordneten Pulvers nach Vorgaben berechnet werden. Die Verbrauchs- und Bestandsverwaltung von Materialien (hier von speziellen Interesse des Pulvermaterials) ist seit Beginn ein grundlegender Bestandteil von OTEC® und wurde speziell für die Bedürfnisse der Branche konzipiert. Dazu zählt unter anderem auch die Verwaltung von gleichen RAL-Tönen verschiedener Hersteller oder die Unterscheidung spezieller Kundenvorgaben bei Artikelzuordnung oder Auftragsanlage.

Because users have the option of assigning specific materials to work processes, consumption of the powder in question can be calculated precisely based on the given specifications.
Consumption and stock management for materials (in this case, powdered materials) has always been an integral component of the OTEC® software suite. This includes the management of RAL colors from different manufacturers, as well as the categorization of specialized customer requirements for item assignments or order creation.

The user always has access to automatic processes and comprehensive information about systems, process control mechanisms, OTEC® quality management, as well as OTEC® DMS as an archiving system alongside a range of different histories. For many companies, maintaining a wide range of communication protocols for systems, powder warehouses, high rack warehouses, scales, and/or third-party systems via standardized or custom interfaces is both convenient and necessary. In addition, different interfaces are required for customers to transfer dispatch notifications, delivery schedules, invoices, etc. in accordance with EDI, EDIFACT or other standards, or customer-specific interfaces.
